On Thursday, 29 April 2021, Muhammad Luthfi Ali Yahya, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) received Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chair of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Arsul Sani, the Mayor of Pekalongan H.A. Afzan Arslan Djunaid, and the Regent of Pekalongan Asip Kholbihi.
The meeting discussed about the development of fisheries sector in Pekalongan. Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that his ministry ensures the construction of an onshore port on Slamaran Beach, Pekalongan City. This is part of an effort to overcome the problems faced by local fishermen and improve the national economy. Muhammad Luthfi Ali Yahya responded positively to these efforts. According to him, Pekalongan has great fishery potential. If managed properly, the fisheries sector will not only be able to have a positive impact on economic development in the regions, but also become the main sector that supports national food sovereignty and security.
