President Prabowo Subianto held a strategic meeting with political party leaders and state institution heads at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
This meeting was held amid ongoing mass protests in several regions, making it an important moment to strengthen national political consolidation and maintain stability.
A number of political party figures were present, including PDIP Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri, Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia, PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan, NasDem Party Chairman Surya Dharma Paloh, PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar, Democratic Party representative Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, and PKS Secretary General Muhammad Kholid.
Also present were leaders of state institutions, namely MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani, DPR Chairwoman Puan Maharani, and DPD Chairman Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin.
In a statement after the meeting, President Prabowo emphasized that decisive action would be taken against legislators who committed misconduct, including revocation of membership, review of allowances, and a moratorium on overseas work visits.
“Members of the DPR must always be sensitive and side with the interests of the people. We respect freedom of expression as stipulated in the constitution and laws and regulations, as long as the expression of aspirations is done peacefully,” said the President.
This meeting also reaffirmed the shared commitment of all political elements and state institutions to uphold democracy, strengthen unity, and prioritize the interests of the Indonesian people above all else. 🇮🇩
