Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka have agreed to enhance cooperation in various strategic fields between the two countries, from education to defense. The agreement was conveyed by President Prabowo in a joint press statement with PM Rabuka, after a bilateral meeting, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (24/04/2025).
Points of strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and Fiji:
1. Making effective the defense cooperation agreement that was established a while ago.
2. Indonesia is committed to supporting the construction of a Regional Agricultural Training Center in Fiji which is planned to start running this year, as well as opening wider opportunities for Fijian youth to pursue vocational, technical, agricultural education, and military training in Indonesia.
3. Accelerate people-to-people links through human resource capacity building programs, including the addition of partnership scholarships for Fijian youth. Indonesia is committed to strengthening partnerships with Pacific countries.
