On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, during a series of working visits by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to the Middle East and Turkey, the governments of Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates reached an agreement on 8 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and Letters of Intent (LoI). This announcement was made during a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Qasar Al Shatie Palace in Abu Dhabi.
A total of eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were agreed upon, with four of them involving government-to-government (G2G) cooperation. The following G2G MoUs were announced:
1. A Statement of Intent between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Coordinating Ministry for Food of the Republic of Indonesia on Nature and Climate Partnership.
2. A Protocol to the Second Amendment of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the UAE Government regarding Maritime and Fisheries Cooperation.
3. A Memorandum of Understanding between the UAE Ministry of Home Affairs and the Indonesian National Police focused on Security and Counter-Terrorism Cooperation.
4. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs and the UAE General Authority for Islam, Waqf, and Zakat on cooperation in the fields of Islam and Waqf.
Meanwhile, four B-to-B agreements involving partnerships between the government and the private sector (B2B) include:
1. Memorandum of Understanding between the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, and Al-Ain Farms for Livestock Production PEA on Investment in Milk Production;
2. Memorandum of Understanding between Ninety Degree General Trading LLC and PT Pindad; 3. I agree with you regarding the Increase in Capacity of the Cirata Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant;
4. Memorandum of Understanding between PT PLN (Persero) and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – MASDAR on the Development Plan for the 100 MW Jatigede Floating Solar Power Plant.
The announcement was an essential part of the bilateral meeting, which took place warmly and enthusiastically in partnership between Indonesia and the PEA. It reflected a shared vision in strengthening economic cooperation, food security, energy transition, security, and religious values. This meeting also marks a new milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two countries, which have been closely established for more than four decades.
