West Manggarai Regency and Labuan Bajo need to prepare human resources and young people who are reliable, skilled and resilient in welcoming the Golden Indonesia.
This was stated by Secretary of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Jan Prince Permata when encouraging and motivating dozens of young people participating in competency-based training at the Job Training Center, West Manggarai Regency in Labuan Bajo, Monday (30/9/2024).
According to Jan Prince Permata, skills, knowledge and networking are the strengths that young people must have in competing in the current era. “The training held today is very good, in addition to providing additional knowledge and skills through reliable trainers, this training is also a space to open a wide network to the world of work,” Jan said.
At the Vocational Training Center of West Manggarai Regency, dozens of young people were trained as Junior Photographers for 35 days by the Office of Manpower, Transmigration, Cooperatives and SMEs of West Manggarai Regency. In addition to being equipped with skills by trainers, the trainees were also connected with tourism businesses that require photography services.
Jan, a former journalist, explained the importance of photography skills and abilities for world tourist destinations such as Komodo Island and Labuan Bajo. “In the future, Labuan Bajo will need photography and photography talents. Trainings like this must continue to be improved,” Jan said.
Jan also added the need to increase human resources (HR) for young people who are resilient and reliable to welcome the Golden Indonesia 2045. “The trainees, who are on average 20 years old, will be a force in welcoming the Golden Indonesia in the West Manggarai and Labuan Bajo regions,” Jan said.
Therefore, he reminded the participants to really prepare themselves well to meet the opportunities and chances in the future. “Creativity, innovation and fighting power must be possessed by youth,” he said. Jan also shared basic journalistic knowledge and skills with the trainees.
The discussion and training was guided by the Head of the Manpower, Transmigration, Cooperatives and SMEs Office of West Manggarai Regency, Theresia Primadona Asmon. According to Theresia, they routinely hold competency-based training with the support of the Ministry of Manpower with various skill options. Besides photography, training is also provided for catering, sewing, hospitality, informatics and technology, tour guide, barista, air conditioning service training, and automotive training. “We select the participants and direct them so that they become more skilled since they are at the Training Center,” said Theresia.
Another speaker in the discussion session was Jakarta-based journalist Rikky Affandy Daulay, who gave an overview of journalism to the participants.
