Presidential Advisory Council Member (Wantimpres) Sidarto Danusubroto, accompanied by Wantimpres Member Secretary Sudiman Tarigan, held a restricted meeting themed “Resolving Non-procedural Indonesian Migrant Worker (PMI) Issues” at the Wantimpres Office on Wednesday (13/12). The meeting discussed various issues leading to the persistence of non-procedural or illegal Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and potential government solutions.
Various factors contributing to the emergence of Non-procedural PMI were identified, stemming not only from the migrant workers themselves but also from the governments and destination countries. Complications arise due to instances where Non-procedural PMI get ensnared in cases of human trafficking.
Attending the meeting were two Wantimpres Member Secretaries, Jan Prince Permata, and Devanto S. Pratomo. Additionally, the Head of BP2MI, Benny Rhamdani, along with the Director of Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker), Rendra Setiawan, and the Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu), Judha Nugraha, participated as resource persons.
