Wantimpres member Sidarto Danusubroto attended the inauguration of the Rector of Bogor
University Agricultural Institute for the 2023-2028 period, Prof. Dr. Arif Satria on Wednesday
(18/1) at Graha Widya Wisuda Building (GWW). Prof. Dr. Arif Satria was elected by acclamation
in the Open Plenary Session of the IPB Board of Trustees (MWA). Chairman of MWA IPB, Prof.
Tridoyo Kusumastanto congratulated Prof. Arif Satria on being inaugurated as the second
period Rector of IPB University. He said the rector’s accountability report for the 2017-2022
period had been received by the MWA in the MWA Plenary Session.
The inauguration was attended by a number of officials including Chairman of the People’s
Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia Bambang Soesatyo and Deputy Chairman
of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Basarah, Coordinating Minister for Political,
Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud, MD., Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, Minister of
Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Minister of National Education for the 2009-2014 period,
Mohammad Nuh and Member of the Presidential Advisory Council for the 2014-2019 period,
Agum Gumelar.
In his speech, the elected Rector of IPB said that in the next five years there are many
programs and ideals to be achieved, one of which is making IPB Town. According to him, the
magnificent IPB Dramaga Campus should not only be enjoyed by the people in it, but also the
surrounding community. Facilities around campus with the concept of town or city will make
around Dramaga become an educational center with access and a competitive environment.
“So we need to rise together, collaborate and build around,” said the Rector.
In addition, the Rector of IPB mentioned relevant IPB University innovations to support related
ministries. The Rector of IPB stated that he was ready to support the Ministry of Agriculture in
order to succeed in self-sufficiency in soybeans and garlic. According to Arif, IPB University has
technology that can produce 4.6 tons per hectare for soybeans and the importance of adapting
to change. According to him, all children of the nation must change to face the challenges of the
times.
