Limited Meeting of Kebaya Nominations as Intangible Cultural Heritage

Members of the Presidential Advisory Council, Putri Kus Wisnu Wardani and Sidarto Danusubroto, held a limited meeting on the proposed nomination of kebaya as an intangible cultural heritage to UNESCO on Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Wantimpres office. This meeting is a follow-up meeting in an effort to unify attitudes and discuss future strategies related to the nomination of Indonesian kebaya to UNESCO.

Present at this meeting were Hilmar Farid, Director General of Culture at the Ministry of Education and Culture; Penny Dewi Herasati, Director of Socio-Cultural and International Organizations of Developing Countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Itje Chodidjah, Executive Chairperson of the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO at the Ministry of Education and Culture; Jazziray Hartoyo, Assistant Deputy for the Promotion and Preservation of Culture at the Coordinating Ministry of PMK; Puti Guntur Soekarno, Member of Commission X of the House of Representatives; and Ismunandar, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Indonesia to UNESCO (present online).

In addition, there were also several representatives of the kebaya community, such as Pertiwi Indonesia, Kebaya Foundation, Perempuan Indonesia Maju, Sekar Ayu Jiwanta, the National Team of the National Kebaya Day (HKN), Representatives of Pencak Silat to UNESCO, Heirs of Kebaya Labuh, and Heirs of Kebaya Kerancang.
