Members of the Presidential Advisory Council, Putri Kus Wisnu Wardani and Sidarto Danusubroto held a limited meeting to discuss the proposed nomination of Kebaya Indonesia as an intangible cultural heritage to UNESCO on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Wantimpres office. Present as resource persons in this meeting were Hilmar Farid, Director General of Culture, Ministry of Education and Culture, Femmy Eka Kartika Putri, Deputy for Coordination for Quality Improvement of Children, Women, and Youth, Coordinating Ministry of PMK, and Penny Dewi Herasati, Director of Socio-Cultural and International Organizations of Developing Countries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This meeting is a follow-up meeting that has been initiated by Wantimpres together with relevant ministries and various kebaya communities in Indonesia to encourage kebaya as a nomination of intangible cultural heritage on behalf of Indonesia to UNESCO. In this meeting it has also been agreed to support kebaya as the sole nominee to be proposed to UNESCO through various approaches both through formal channels and informal diplomacy.
Also present at this meeting were representatives of the national team for the launching of National Kebaya Day and several representatives of the kebaya community such as Pertiwi Indonesia, Kebaya Foundation, Perempuan Indonesia Maju, and Sekar Ayu Jiwanta.
