Muhamad Mardiono, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres), accompanied by Secretary of the Wantimpres Member Mohammed Ali Berawi and Wantimpres experts team, received an audience for digital technology service providers in the financial sector, which was attended by Dima Djani, Sakti Ryan, and Ekky Ghea, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Wantimpres Office.
This meeting discussed the use of digital technology in the Islamic finance sector. Technological advances in the field of Islamic finance have an important role to improve the quality of services that are more efficient and effective to the community. This meeting also discussed strategies and tactical steps to strengthen the use of digital technology in the financial sector to be able to provide optimal benefits for the government, investors, MSME entrepreneurs and the user community.
Mardiono stated that the support for ecosystem development and the use of digital technology in the financial sector is important considering that apart from Indonesia as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, a fast, prudent and accountable financial system is also needed for the distribution of investment funds for MSME financing so that it is more advanced and developed. Therefore, there is great potential for digital financial services or national sharia financial technology (fintech) to be able to play an active role in this economic development process.
The use of sharia fintech will make it easier for people to get sharia financial services, investment, and sharia financing. In addition, the presence of sharia fintech can also improve public education about the financial technology market and the Islamic economic system.
