On Sunday, August 28, 2022, in the front yard of the Merdeka Palace, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, together with member of the Wantimpres Habib Luthfi, and the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, released the departure of the Merah Putih Carnival. The 1,700 meter long red and white flag was unfurled and paraded at the Merah Putih Carnival with the route from the Merdeka Palace, Monas Cross to the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout.
“Together with the National Police Chief and Habib Luthfi, by saying Bismillaahirrohmaanirrohiim this morning, I declare that the Merah Putih Carnival has been dispatched,” said President Joko Widodo, to mark the departure of the Merah Putih Carnival. The Merah Putih Carnival was attended by various elements including community organizations, students and the general public.
Habib Luthfi said that the purpose of holding the Merah Putih Carnival was to revive a sense of belonging to the homeland.
“We are ready to keep Merah Putih up until whenever we are determined to keep the Non-negotiable Sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Habib Luthfi.
