Wantimpres member Sidarto Danusubroto was the keynote speaker at the Energy Talk #15 webinar with the theme “Green Port Development: Indonesia Initiative towards Sustainable Development Maritime Industry” on Thursday, July 7, 2022. The webinar, which is part of the Pamerindo Sustainability Program, was also attended by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.
Starting his speech, Sidarto Danusubroto emphasized that global warming is one of the important issues faced by the world today and is a climate change phenomenon that is very risky for the lives of future generations. In this regard, President Joko Widodo when receiving the G-20 presidency in Rome at the end of October 2021, stated that one of the main issues of this presidency is the transition to sustainable energy. The energy transition is the world’s long-term strategy in reducing greenhouse gas emissions to obtain net zero emissions, or zero carbon emissions, where the amount of carbon emissions released into the atmosphere does not exceed the amount of atmosphere that can be absorbed by the earth, in order to minimize climate change.
Sidarto added that the current climate change had become Bung Karno’s serious concern decades ago. That is why Bung Karno paid so much attention to Indonesia’s forests, because he realized that Indonesia is the lungs of the world and one of the owners of the largest tropical forests in the world apart from Brazil and Congo.
Also a speaker at the energy talk webinar this time was Dr. Capt. Mugen S. Sartoto (Director of Traffic and Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation), Prasetyo (Director of Strategy for Pelindo), Jussi Pekka Sampola (Head of Marine and Offshore and Ports Asia Pacific Danfoss) and Makmun Hafid (Director of Commercial and Business Development of PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera).
