Member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Putri Kus Wisnu Wardani, gave a speech at the “Coffee with Alumni” event with the theme Kebaya Goes to UNESCO which was held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Lippo Mall Kemang, Jakarta. This activity was pioneered by the “Alumni for Indonesia” group consisting of university alumni from both state universities and private universities.
In her speech, Putri strongly supports the kebaya as one of the ancestral heritages rooted in the original culture of the Indonesian people to be prioritized to get world recognition through UNESCO. According to Putri, kebaya for women has a broad understanding, ranging from a form of identity to a form of love and pride for the homeland. Kebaya is also believed to still be able to keep up with the times. Many famous designers have proven successful in elevating the image of the kebaya to a higher level. In addition, kebaya can also revive many MSMEs, both in their procurement and their derivative industries, so that they have the potential to be an economic driver and job opportunities.
