Representing the Wantimpres, Mohammed Ali Berawi, Secretary of the Wantimpres members, gave a keynote speech at the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Improving the Quality of Electric Train-Based Urban Transportation Services” organized by the Institute for Transportation Studies (INSTRAN) on June 23, 2022 at Pullman Jakarta Thamrin.
Mohammed Ali Berawi conveyed the importance of developing the railway industry towards the independence of national public transportation.
The government’s main focus remains public transportation that is sustainable and environmentally friendly, in this case train is one of the preferred modes of transportation. People need transportation services that are efficient, effective, safe, and comfortable.
Therefore, policies and strategic steps are needed to build and strengthen the independence of the public transportation industry.
The use of technological advances in the railway system has had an impact on increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of services as well as operations and maintenance. The development of an industrial ecosystem that involves various parties, regulators, operators as well as the manufacturing and supply chain industries must be directed to strengthen productivity increases by prioritizing the use of Domestic Content Levels (TKDN).
The massive development of the public transportation system is a momentum for strengthening the national industry and increasing the capacity and performance of related parties for self-sufficiency in domestic production, concluded Ali Berawi.
