Putri Kus Wisnu Wardani Supports Kebaya as an Intangible Cultural Heritage

Member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Putri Kus Wisnu Wardani, fully follows and supports the initiative carried out by Pertiwi Indonesia with Perempuan Berkebaya Indonesia Community through a leisurely morning walk entitled CFD Berkebaya on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the Sudirman-Thamrin Car Free Day (CFD) location, starting from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia and ending at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout.

The kebaya activity at the CFD location aims to popularize and preserve the kebaya, a traditional Indonesian traditional dress, which is planned to be submitted to UNESCO to be recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage from Indonesia. The leisurely morning walk was chosen as a form of conveying these aspirations and as a reminder that the kebaya, apart from being a typical Indonesian attire, is also a garment that can be worn at various times and on various occasions. In addition, this is an effort to strengthen the nation’s cultural roots so that they are not easily shaken by the swift influence from outside.

A total of 3700 participants participated in this activity, both personally and from various women’s organizations. Also attending the event was the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi.
