Sidarto Danusubroto’s Working Visit to PT. Badak LNG, Bontang, East Kalimantan

Member of the Wantimpres Sidarto Danusubroto paid a working visit to PT Badak LNG, Bontang, East Kalimantan on Wednesday, January 25, 2022. Also attending the visit were members of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission VII and KSP. During the visit, he witnessed firsthand LNG, which was once the largest in the world and one of the SOEs that is expected in the future, especially in supporting the construction of the new capital city.

The existence of the Badak LNG plant in Bontang City, East Kalimantan, stems from the discovery of large gas reserves in the Badak gas field in 1972. In 1973 a contract was made containing commitments from buyers in the long term to import from Indonesia.

After going through several expansion projects, the Bontang LNG plant reached peak production in 2001 with production of 21.38 million tons of LNG and 1.15 million tons of LPG. After 2001, there was a decline in the supply of feed gas from upstream so that the production of LNG and LPG has decreased to date.

Badak LNG’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs have succeeded in bringing PT. Badak LNG has received various awards in the environmental sector, including the Gold Proper award 11 times from 2011-2021. Various innovation programs are carried out in real terms, contributing to the environment by implementing the gradual use of solar panels in the company’s environment. This program collaborates with Pertamina Power Indonesia to install PLTS with a capacity of 4 MWp whose electricity is utilized to support the needs of the LNG Plant and the plan is that PLTS will be developed up to 10 MWp.
