On Saturday, February 19, 2022, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Muhamad Mardiono paid a visit to the Batik production center in Pekalongan, Central Java. In this activity, Mardiono had the opportunity to see the process of making batik and have a dialogue with batik business craftsmen. The process of making batik which is full of artistic value in Pranggok Pesisir, is a series of batik-making processes starting from the process of making patterns, printing, coloring, dyeing, to drying batik fabric.
Mardiono stated that batik is a craft that has high artistic value and full of meaning that has become part of the nation’s culture. Batik has also been a symbol of the means of economic struggle in the independence era. Currently the use of batik has been carried out on various occasions, not only as fashion or clothing, but also as a decoration and lifestyle material.
Therefore, Mardiono stated that the government’s support will continue to be given to batik business people as a form of effort to preserve batik and simultaneously increase economic activity and community productivity. Mardiono also continues to encourage community participation in preserving Indonesia’s cultural heritage, proudly wearing batik. Let’s love the Nusantara artworks.
