On Friday, October 22nd, 2021, Secretary to the Members of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Mohammed Ali Berawi accompanied by the Head of the Data and Information Bureau, Arfan Sahib, the expert and research study team of the Wantimpres held a meeting with the Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products, Artati Widiarti and her staff at the office of the Wantimpres.
Ali Berawi said that this meeting was held to discuss policy affirmation and working programs to increase the productivity and competitiveness of MSMEs and the people’s economy in the marine and fisheries sector. Therefore, Ali Berawi emphasized the importance of policies and working programs to facilitate business legality, financing support, production and marketing to be carried out consistently and sustainably in accelerating the empowerment of fishermen and the development of MSMEs in the marine and fisheries sector.
This meeting discussed various challenges encountered and the support needed for MSMEs including limited access to business capital, scattered production locations and the need for an efficient fishery logistics system, improvement of the processing systems performance, distribution and marketing of fishery products and marine products, as well as capacity building to manage marine and fisheries business.
