Member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Sidarto Danusubroto was present as an online speaker at the “Agustusan Bersama Rotary” event on August 18th, 2021. This event was organized by Rotary District 3420 to celebrate the 76th Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
At the event, Sidarto conveyed that Indonesian Independence could be achieved through the struggle of all Indonesian people who worked hand in hand to expel the invaders from Indonesia. The struggle of the Indonesian people for independence, indeed, will not be achieved without the role of national figures who have fought so persistently since they were very young. Some of the nation’s leaders include: Bung Karno, Bung Hatta, Syahrir, Tan Malaka, and others.
At the time when Bung Karno passed away in 1970, while still maintaining his idealism, he passed down various thoughts and concepts, such as Pancasila and Trisakti, which makes Indonesia highly valued and has a place of honor in the eyes of other countries. Trisakti which is described as “Sovereign in the political field”, “Independent in the economic field”, and “Personality in culture” is the formulation that Bung Karno explored during the encounter of imperialist attempts to destroy Indonesia.
