On Monday, May 3, 2021, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) H.R. Agung Laksono conducted a working visit to the Livestock Embryo Center (BET) in Cipelang, Bogor Regency to see firsthand the use of reproductive biotechnology, particularly embryo transfer (TE) in the context of providing superior cattle seeds and breeds. During his visit, he had the opportunity to name a male calf as a result of TE. The calf, which comes from the Simmental family, is named “Laksono” according to his
last name.
Furthermore, Agung Laksono considered this TE technology as a step forward to ensure the availability of superior breeds in Indonesia. He hopes that the success of BET Cipelang can be a model for other regions in Indonesia, so that the need for cattle and meat could be met and reduce Indonesia’s dependence on imports. (TAS)
