Sad news came over Wantimpres, the Former Member of the Presidential Advisory Council in President Jokowi’s first term (2015 – 2019), Abdul Malik Fadjar passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020, in Jakarta. He was 81 years old.
During his lifetime, Malik Fadjar, who was born in Yogyakarta on February 22, 1939, was known as a teacher and national figure that has high concern for education. As a member of the Presidential Advisory Council, chaired by Sri Adiningsih, he provided a lot of advice and considerations to the President, especially regarding education, religion, politics and national diversity.
Foregoing, Malik Fadjar who also the Prominent Muhammadiyah figure, served as religious affairs minister during the presidency of the late B.J. Habibie from 1998 until 1999. He was also the National Education Minister during the presidency of Megawati Soekarnoputri from 2001 until 2004.
The funeral ceremony held at the National Heroes Cemetery (TMP) Kalibata, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, led by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of Indonesia (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy. (AD & FA)
