On April 4, 2019, General (Ret.) Agum Gumelar, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (WANTIMPRES) was invited as the keynote speaker to deliver a public lecture on the theme “Deliberative Leadership with Nationalism in a Plural Indonesian Society” at the State Christian College (STAKN) Makale Tana Toraja.
In his speech, Mr. Gumelar emphasized that a great nation is a nation that recognizes and respects its history of struggle and the services of its heroes. To be a great nation and being successful across fields of development, there are 3 conditions that must be fulfilled: Firstly, there is a spirit of nationalism to prioritize the interests of the nation above the personal interests. Secondly, must be competitive in this global era. Thirdly, there is an ethos of discipline and an attitude of compliance to the existing laws and regulations (AD).
