In the era of Industry 4.0 (the 4th Industrial Revolution), the role of defense and security in digital transformation has becoming highly significant. The defense and security sector should anticipate the development of digital technology which has a major effect on the cyber security system as well as defense technology itself. These are including the main weapon systems or defense equipment, the defense industry and intelligence technology. In addition to mastering the technology, defense and security sector also requires the human resources with capacity, integrity, and highly motivated in order to create effective military power of a country.
In this regards, Mr. M. Yusuf Kartanegara, Member of the Presidential Advicory Council, held a meeting on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019. The meeting aimed to gain input regarding potencies, problems, and challenges toward Indonesia’s human resource development in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution in the defense and security sector. The meeting was also attended by Mrs. Sri Adiningsih as the Chairwoman of the Presidential Advisory Council. Speakers at the meeting were Director General of Defense Power, Ministry of Defense; Commander of the Navy’s Staff and Command School (Seskoal); Deputy for Business of Mining, Strategic Industry and Media, Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises; Head Bureau of the Strategic Study, HR Assistant of the Indonesian Police Chief; Intelligence and Defense Observer; and Chairman of the Communication & Information System Security Research Center.
