The Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia released a map of the electoral route called “Identification of Potential Emerging Problems Related to Strict Implementation of 2019 Elections and Presidential Elections (Including the flow of the elections of Governors, Regents and Mayors)”.
To examine and criticize the description of this map, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Fadjar held a meeting with the theme “Presidential Elections and Legislatic Elections in 2019” at the Office of the Presidential Advisory Council on January 17, 2019 by inviting as speakers; Dr. Bambang Kesowo, Minister of State Secretary period of 2001-2004, Prof. Dr. Azyumardi Azra, M.A., CBE., Professor of Syarif Hidayatullah UIN, Prof. A. Mukthie Fadjar, S.H., M.S., Deputy Chairperson of the Constitutional Court period of 2003 – 2008 and Prof. Dr. R. Siti Zuhro, Senior Researcher at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI).
The purpose of this meeting is to rethink and look forward for “model” of electoral process that are simpler, cheaper, friendlier and can strengthen the democratic life within the framework of NKRI based on Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Furthermore, it is sought that the implementation of general elections can be a form of democratic consolidation that relies on public morality. (gita)
