On January 30, 2019, General (Ret.) Agum Gumelar, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (WANTIMPRES) fulfilled the invitation from TNI Commander Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto to deliver speech about “Developmental dynamics of Nationalism in Indonesia” for 277 TNI’s high and middle ranking officers, of academic year of 2018/2019 in TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta.
In his speech, Agum emphasized that a great nation is a nation that recognizes and respects its history of struggle and the services of its heroes. To unite the pluralistic Indonesia as a nation, it was agreed by the nation’s founding fathers that Pancasila is a unifying tool functioned as the nation’s philosophy of life and the state ideology. Therefore, if there are any forces who want to change the NKRI and replace the Pancasila, we cannot remain silent. We must have courage to take a firm stand against the threat. The unity and solidity of the TNI-Polri (National Police of Indonesia) is a guarantee of the strength and upholding of the Republic of Indonesia against any threat in this country. (AD)
