The House of Representatives Plenary Meeting, on October 16th, 2018, approved the draft bill on Islamic Boarding Schools and Religious Education as House’s “visual initiative”. To date, Religious Educations (including Islamic boarding school, “pesantren”), are regulated in accordance with the Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System (Article 30, Verses: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5).
The Islamic Boarding Schools as a form and/or model of Islam religious education grows and develops in Indonesia as base of social, culture, traditions background also the characteristics. Both of education and learning system, along with institutionalization and the management system including the existence of “Kyai” as the founders as well as “influential figures”, are unique by principle. In regard to this aspect, the Member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Mr. Abdul Malik Fadjar, held a meeting with the theme “The Bill on Islamic Boarding Schools and Religious Education”, on November 15, 2018 at the Large Meeting Room, on the 2nd floor, Office of the Presidential Advisory Council (gita)
