Responding the Development of Energy, Oil and Gas in Indonesia today and in the future time

Oil and gas has become the world’s most dominant and important source of energy to support a country’s development in various fields, both at the present and in the future time. The continuous increase of world oil price, simultaneously with the decline in the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar, has made Indonesia’s balance of payments in a relatively strenuous condition. Efforts to find and optimally utilize alternative energy sources such as solar, water, wind, geothermal and biofuel are considered necessary to replace the existing energy sources. Based on this background, General (ret.) Agum Gumelar, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (WANTIMPRES), took the initiative to hold a meeting with relevant parties to discuss with the theme of “Responding the Development of Energy, Oil and Gas in Indonesia Today and in The Future” on November 12, 2018 in the Wantimpres office. This meeting aspire to find a mutually agreed solution on long-term policies in the energy, oil and gas sector. (IP)
