Inauguration of the Main Campus Building of Muhammadiyah University of Banjarmasin (UMB) and Stone Groundbreaking Laying of the Muhammadiyah University Banjarmasin Convention Center (UMBCC) Building

Mr. A. Malik Fadjar, Member of the Presidential Advisory Council attended the inauguration of the Ahmad Azhar Basyir floating campus building, as the main campus of UMB. In this occusion, the first brick laying event was held as a sign of the commencement of the construction of the Muhammadiyah University Banjarmasin Convention Center (UMBCC) building was carried out by Mr. A. Malik Fadjar, and the laying of the first stone of the Ulul Albab Mosque by Mr. Osama bin Mohammed Abdullah Al Shuaibi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The signing of the UMB Campus stone, was carried out by Mr. Haedar Nashir, Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah.

The construction of this new building is expected to inspire students to be more motivated in learning activities. With an area of ​​± 13 thousands square meter  the UMBCC is planned to be built conceptually as a floating campus, consisting of 3 floors where hotels, food courts, clinical pharmacies and auditoriums will be built to accommodate around 2,600 people. While Ulul Albab mosque will be built on an area of ​​5 thousand square meters, and will be used as a base for the study of the Qur’an and al-Sunnah.

As one of the initiators and eminent person to laid the first stone of the construction of the UMB campus, Mr. A. Malik Fadjar expressed his pride for the spirit possessed by the UMB Chancellor, Mr. Ahmad Khairuddin who held the principle of “Man Jadda Wa Jadda“. This building was developed from the solidarity and hard work of the Chancellor and the Muhammadiyah ranks. It is hoped that this campus will produce a commitment to grow and to develop for a progressive Islam. (ARD)
