Gandi Sulistiyanto, a Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres), became a speaker at the Discussion and Book Launch “President Joko Widodo: Fulfilling the Dreams of Indonesia,” which was translated into Korean. This event took place on December 14, 2023, at Busan University of Foreign Studies. The translation of President Jokowi’s book is part of the activities commemorating five decades of friendship between Indonesia and South Korea.
The publication of President Joko Widodo’s book in Korean aims to strengthen mutual understanding between the two nations’ societies and broaden the Korean community’s perspectives on Indonesia. Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia, a country with a predominantly Muslim population but not an Islamic state, the world’s third-largest democracy, and the fourth-most populous country globally.
The Discussion and Book Launch event was organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul and inaugurated by Zelda Wulan Kartika, Kuasa Usaha Ad-Interim (KUAI) KBRI Seoul. The speakers at the event included Gandi Sulistiyanto, Cho Tae-Young (Former Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Indonesia from 2014-2018), and Prof. Park Jung Hoon from Busan National University. Also in attendance were Prof. Soon-Heung Jang (President/Rector of Busan University of Foreign Studies) and Prof. Jeon Je-Seong (President of the Korean Association of Southeast Asian Studies (KASEAS)).
