Soekarwo’s Meeting with the Regent of Sidoarjo

Member of the Presidential Advisory Council of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarwo, conducted a Working Visit to Sidoarjo Regency, East Java Province (4/9) with the aim of gathering data and information and identifying issues in the sugar industry sector of Sidoarjo Regency. Currently, Sidoarjo Regency is one of the sugar producers in East Java, but sugarcane productivity as a raw material for sugar production continues to decline due to issues related to sugarcane land conversion, price uncertainty, and the shift from rural to urban lifestyles. During the meeting between Soekarwo, the Regent of Sidoarjo, Ahmad Mudhlor Ali, PT RNI, and the Sugarcane Farmers Association, Soekarwo emphasized the importance of sustainable funding without burdening the regional budget, off-taker guarantees, price guarantees, and the promotion of organic fertilizers. The Regent of Sidoarjo also committed to taking over the oversight of abandoned sugar factory assets if the transfer process is possible
