Sidarto Danusubroto Receive Audience from PIMA

Presidential Advisory Council Member Sidarto Danusubroto, accompanied by Secretary Member Sudiman Tarigan, and Expert Staff Triana Dewi Seroja and Kris Tjantra, met with the leadership of the Maritime Leading Human Resources Association (PIMA) led by Chairman Harnoto on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Wantimpres office. PIMA is an organization dedicated to promoting and advancing the maritime sector in Indonesia with a vision to achieve a prosperous maritime and fisheries community through sustainable marine and fisheries resources and increasing the contribution of the fisheries sector to the National Gross Domestic Product.

During the discussion, various issues related to fisheries and marine resources in Indonesia were addressed. According to FAO data from 2022, Indonesia has a potential fishing area of 26,606,000 hectares. The potential fish resources amount to 12.01 million tons per year across 11 fisheries management areas (WPP). The significant potential in Indonesia’s fisheries sector requires special attention in management processes. This potential has not yet been optimally managed due to various constraints. Therefore, solutions need to be sought to ensure that Indonesia’s fisheries and marine resources are utilized effectively.
